Important information

This service provides an indicative specialist opinion. Cancer cannot be diagnosed from photographs alone. Do not delay GP advice or an existing referral while waiting for a mole check.

A simple route to specialist advice

  1. Tell us your concerns

We ask about your skin, the mole and any changes you have noticed.

  2. We capture detailed images

A trained team member captures close-up and dermoscopic images using a smartphone and specialist lens, then securely submits them to Map My Mole.

  3. Receive your written report

A UK consultant dermatologist reviews your images and advises on next steps. The pharmacy team will explain how your report will be delivered.

If further assessment is recommended, Map My Mole contacts you to explain what to do next.

Understand your report. Know your next step.

Your report contains the specialist’s opinion and guidance on whether monitoring or further medical assessment is recommended.

  • A written specialist opinion
  • Clear next-step advice
  • Support if further review is needed

Know when to seek advice

  • Changes in size, shape or colour
  • Pain, itching, bleeding or crusting
  • A new or unusual mark

Contact your GP if you notice these changes, or a new or unusual mark that has not gone away after a few weeks.

NHS advice on moles

Before you enquire

  • Seek medical advice for heavy bleeding, severe pain, infection, or a spreading rash with fever.
  • Keep any existing urgent GP or hospital referral.
  • Intimate areas, large or sensitive lesions that cannot be safely imaged, difficult-to-image lesions and more than three concerning moles may need in-person assessment.
  • For children, please contact our team to check suitability and local consent requirements. A parent or guardian would need to attend.

This service reviews selected moles or lesions. It is not a full-body mole mapping appointment or a mole-removal service.
